About ForgeLifting
ForgeLifting is a free, web-based strength-training app built for beginner and intermediate lifters who want to train with structure instead of guesswork. It runs in your browser and installs to your phone like a native app, with full offline support so your workout never depends on a signal.
Alongside the app, we publish a growing library of training guides covering programs, technique, and the core concepts of progressive overload, RPE, RIR, and one-rep-max estimation. The goal is the same as the app's tagline: get stronger, and understand why.
Why we built it
Most lifting apps are either bloated with social features and paywalls, or so bare they're just a notes page with a timer. We wanted something in between: fast, private, and genuinely useful in the middle of a working set. ForgeLifting logs your sets, calculates your estimated one-rep max, tracks volume per muscle, detects personal records, and tells you when it's time to add weight — without ever showing a loading spinner mid-workout.
Who's behind it
ForgeLifting is an independent project built and maintained in the United Kingdom by a small team of lifters and developers. We train with the same programs we write about, and every guide on the site is written from real training experience and checked against current strength-training research. We are not a content farm and we don't republish other people's articles — everything here is original.
Our editorial approach
- Original and experience-based: guides are written by people who lift, not generated in bulk.
- Evidence-checked: recommendations are grounded in established strength-training principles, not fads.
- Practical: every article is meant to change what you do in the gym, not just fill a page.
- Corrections welcome: if you spot something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
